This is how we joined together to clean the polluted Mahaweli river last Thursday. We greatly appreciate the voluntary support received from our staff, Sand miners and the Mahaweli Authority. We were able to clear the trash visible and reachable on the banks, bushes and which was floating in the river. Sadly it took only a few hours for more trash to gather in the river as our community has forgotten that the Mahaweli River is the lifeline of the nation and it’s our responsibility to save the river. It was a fun and interesting event and at the same time rewarding as we were able to clean up the river at least to a certain extent.
