THE STORY OF A HOTEL
IN A CHAPTER OF KANDY

It began with a dream. At 44, Mr. John Atul Panabokke turned from a path of comfort to follow a vision – to shape his ancestral home into a haven where Kandy’s soul could be shared and every guest welcomed as family. With the grace and unwavering support of his wife, Mrs. Lalanawathie (Dolly) Ratwatte Panabokke, Mahaweli Reach opened its doors in 1973 – a modest four-room guesthouse set upon sprawling acres of land steeped in memory and promise.
